Patna:
Actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha on Friday hoped the CBI would resolve the alleged suicide death case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput who he said had become “messy” due to “finger pointing” by individuals and the states of Maharashtra and Bihar.
“A thousand-kilometer journey begins with one step,” Sinha said, welcoming the Supreme Court’s decision to hand over the investigation into the case to CBI.
Mr Sinha, who hails from Patna as Sushant Rajput, said the actor was “extremely talented” and lamented the “stupidity and silence” of “a large part” of the Hindi film fraternity and English speakers who undermine the actors and other upcoming achievers of “chhote shahar” (small towns).
The old-fashioned Bollywood actor said he had previously spoken of turning the case over to the CBI for a fair investigation and ending the feud between the Bihar and Maharashtra police.
“The case was getting messy … I salute the wisdom of the Supreme Court for ordering a CBI investigation into the case,” said Sinha, affectionately referred to as a “shotgun” for openly expressing his opinion.
He said, however, that the CBI was not a “sacred cow” because it “failed to resolve” the case of the murder of Aarushi Talwar in Delhi, the assassination of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar and the mysterious death. by actor Jiah Khan.
“Although not a ‘sacred cow’, he (CBI) is still the ‘best cow’, well equipped to probe such a sensitive case,” he said. at PTI, and hoped the truth would come out within 34. – the case of the former actor’s death soon.
Mr. Sinha, who served as trade union minister in the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, praised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and LJP chairman Chirag Paswan for urging an investigation of the CBI in this case.
He also praised actors Shekhar Suman and Kangana Ranaut for raising their voices in favor of the actor, but questioned the “silence” of much of Bollywood celebrities over the death of Sushant Rajput.
“Maybe it’s because of their personal interest or their fear of hurting powerful people,” he said, without taking any names.
“If more and more people in the film industry had lent their voice, the national outcry over Rajput’s death could have yielded results much sooner,” he added.
Mr Sinha said he had met Sushant Rajput once and found him a man of “good manners”.
“He told me I was his role model. I told him you would become a superstar because of your immense acting talent,” he said.
Mr. Sinha decried those in the Hindi film industry who made fun of aspirants from small towns and villages, calling them people of “chhote shahar aur chhoti soch” (small town people with petty thoughts).
“Is Patna a chhota shahar? Great personalities like the first president of independent India, Dr Rajendra Prasad, Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan and a host of senior officials … officers of the IAS and IPS have their roots in Patna and Bihar, ”he said.
Mr Sinha admitted that “nepotism and favoritism” existed in Bollywood and said he himself had faced difficulties in becoming “zero heroes”.
He declined to talk about actress Rhea Chakraborty, however, who Sushant Rajput’s father accused of encouraging his son’s suicide, saying he had never met her and didn’t know much about her. case.
