Thiruvananthapuram:
Kerala has decided to revoke the general consent granted to the Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct investigations in the state. This decision requires the central agency to obtain permission from the state government to conduct investigations in the state.
The left-wing government’s move comes weeks after Maharashtra’s Uddhav Thackeray government decided to do the same.
Previously, several other opposition-ruled states, including Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and most recently Rajasthan, had withdrawn their general consent, shutting the doors of the CBI.
