Any decision to reimpose the lockdown in the city for the spike in COVID-19 cases will only be made after consultation with experts, several Karnataka ministers said on Wednesday as the government planned such a course.

One day after starting debate saying government may need to consider foreclosure, Health Minister B Sriramulu argued that if cases in the city continue to increase, the matter will be discussed with the panel of experts , with Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and a decision taken. .

“We have a committee of experts, and if the cases continue to increase, we will discuss with them, with the chief minister and make a decision. The central government will also be consulted,” he told reporters.

Evading a direct answer on whether or not there should be a lockout, the minister said more tests need to take place in the city, where 1,678 cases of COVID-19 have been reported so far. now. This included 78 deaths and 475 exits.

As part of unlocking-1 from June 1, the Karnataka further relaxed the locking restrictions and authorized various activities.

Tourism Minister CT Ravi said the government had made foreclosure decisions based on the experts’ report and had also put the opposition at ease.

“This time too, any decision will be made on the basis of the expert’s report,” he added.
