Karnataka Congress Leader Siddaramaiah tests for COVID-19

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah tweeted today to say he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. In a brief message on Twitter, Mr Siddaramaiah said he was admitted to hospital on the advice of doctors.

The congressman has asked everyone who has come in contact with him to check for symptoms and self-quarantine.

“I tested positive for Covid-19 and was also admitted to hospital on the advice of doctors as a precaution. I ask anyone who has come in contact with me to check for symptoms and self-quarantine, ”he tweeted. this morning.

Mr Siddaramaiah’s son said his father had been tested for Corona antigen after developing a fever yesterday.

Mr Siddaramaiah is the second leading Karnataka leader to contract the virus, which has affected more than 18 lakh in the country since the first case was reported in Kerala in January this year.

Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa tested positive on Sunday; six staff members working in his office have also tested positive for the disease.

Mr Yediyurappa’s daughter, Padmavathi, has also tested positive, while his son, Vijayendra, has tested negative.

Mr Yediyurappa’s test results came hours after Union Home Secretary Amit Shah tested positive for the disease.

Karnataka recorded 5,532 cases of coronavirus last night, bringing the state’s total to 134,819. Of those 745.90 are active cases. In the state capital of Bengaluru, 2,105 people have tested positive, bringing the total to 59,501, including 37,513 active cases.

The number of COVID-19 across the country crossed the 18 lakh mark on Monday, just a day after surpassing 17 lakh, with 52,972 cases reported within 24 hours.
