In October, Maharashtra announced the relocation of the carport from Aarey to Kanjur Marg.

Bombay:

The political war between Maharashtra and the central government over the site of a metro car shed refuses to end. Now, the Union Government’s Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has sent a letter to the state asking it to prevent the Mumbai Metropolitan Area Development Authority (MMRDA ) to carry out work on the Kanjur Marg site.

The letter, addressed to Maharashtra’s chief secretary, Sanjay Kumar, says the land belongs to the government of India and will be “against the interests of the Indian government.”

He further states: “The inappropriate and one-sided action of the collector, MSD and MMRDA has caused serious losses to DPIIT, Indian government. Please ask the collector to withdraw any orders in this regard in order to protect the interests of the Government of India. “

The letter contradicts what the Maharashtra government and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said: that Kanjur Marg’s plot belongs to the state of Maharashtra. He claims to belong to the saline land, thus intensifying the war of words between the Center and the State.

In early October, CM Thackeray announced that the metro car shed would be transferred from the controversial Aarey plot to Kanjur Marg, which is owned by the state government, at zero cost.

However, opposition leader and ex-CM Devendra Fadnavis says the change will lead to escalating costs and delays. He also claimed that Kanjur Marg’s land was soft soil and was not suitable for the metro car shed.

GalacticGaming has sent a message to the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra to find out what action the state will take now and whether he has responded to the DPIIT letter. But the CS has yet to respond at the time of publication.

Reacting to the developments, BJP leader Ram Kadam said: “Moving the car shed from Aarey to Kanjur Marg will cost over Rs 4,000 crore. Who owns the money? It is people’s money. ordinary people and taxpayers in our country. It is just because of ego that the Uddhav Thackeray government is doing all of this. “
