With a recovery rate of more than 72% and a doubling rate of almost 30 days, the situation of COVID-19 in the national capital has improved remarkably in recent days thanks to joint efforts, said the Minister of ‘Interior of the Union.

Addressing a press conference, the deputy secretary of the interior ministry, Punya Salila Srivastava, said that the ministry held regular meetings with state governments in the Delhi-NCR region to improve the pandemic situation.

She said that experts at the national level also participate in these meetings and that important decisions have been made.

These include controlling the cost of COVID treatment in private hospitals, having additional beds in the national capital, increasing the number of tests using rapid antigen technology, carefully delimiting containment areas, researching the contacts of all those affected, to use computer systems efficiently and the AIIMS Delhi telemedicine counseling center is now available in all COVID hospitals in the country for the clinical management of the disease.

“Joint efforts have improved the situation in Delhi. Rapid antigen technology is being used on a large scale, which has increased testing capacity,” she said.

“Until July 8, more than 6.79 lakh tests were performed, which translates to 35,780 tests per million population. Today, more than 20,000 tests are performed every day, but despite the ‘increased testing, active cases are under control,’ said Srivastava.

The official said that on Thursday there were 23,552 active cases in Delhi which have a recovery rate of around 72% and the doubling rate has increased to 29.7 days (or around 30 days).

She said the number of hospital beds available for COVID care in Delhi has increased.

“On June 1, there were 4,456 hospital beds available. Now, 15,096 beds are available. On July 8, there were 10,237 vacant beds, which represents approximately 68% of availability,” he said. she declared.

Ms. Srivastava said that the Sardar Patel COVID care center in Chattarpur here has emerged as a game changer as the provision of a good facility for Delhi residents has been assured within 12 days, setting an example for the country whole.

It stated that the Unlock 2.0 instructions were implemented from July 1 and that a stepwise authorization was granted for activities authorized outside the containment zones.

However, lockdowns will be strictly followed in the containment areas until July 31.

“From now on, all economic activities are authorized. Compliance with national directives has become essential such as masks, social distancing, etc.,” she said, adding that the ministry closely monitors the implementation of the directives. national.
