Washington:
A day after becoming president-elect, Joe Biden visited a church for Sunday prayers, while outgoing U.S. President Donald Trump took to a golf course in a Virginia suburb.
Biden, 77, visited St. Joseph’s, a historic complex of Roman Catholic churches in New Castle County, Delaware. He was joined by his daughter Ashley Biden and his grandson Hunter.
Trump, 74, after a series of tweets on Sunday morning, took to his golf course in a Virginia suburb of Washington DC.
A handful of protesters lined the sidewalks near the entrance to the golf course.
Some of them were holding signs that read: “ORANGE CRUSHED”; “TRUMPTY DUMPTY HAD A BIG FALL”. There were also a few pro-Trump brands.
Trump was playing golf on Saturday when major U.S. news networks announced he had lost the U.S. election to Democratic rival Biden.
On Sunday morning, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris tweeted a video clip of her victory speech an evening earlier in which she spoke about her Indian mother.
“I think of my mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris, and the generations of black women who came before me who believed so deeply in an America where such a moment is possible,” Ms. Harris tweeted.
