Joe Biden lambasted Donald Trump for saying Americans shouldn’t be afraid of Covid-19.

Miami, United States:

White House Democratic hopeful Joe Biden blasted Donald Trump on Monday for saying Americans shouldn’t be afraid of Covid-19 or let it “rule your life”, even after the president tested positive to coronavirus.

“I saw a tweet he did, they showed me, he said ‘don’t let COVID control your life,'” Biden told Florida Local News Station 10 as he campaigned in the key state of the battlefield.

“Tell that to the 205,000 families who have lost someone.”

Biden was referring to the number of Americans – now more than 210,000 – who have died from the coronavirus, even as the president downplays the severity of the disease.

The former vice president added to his comments later Monday at an outdoor event in Miami, where he criticized Trump for ignoring the importance of masks.

“I hope the president, after going through what he’s been through – and I’m glad he seems to be doing pretty well – will pass the right lesson on to the American people: masks matter,” Biden said.

“These masks, they matter. It matters, it saves lives, it prevents the spread of disease.”

Biden’s remarks came just minutes after Trump concluded a four-day period of Covid-19 treatment at Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Maryland, returned to the White House, and defiantly removed his face mask as ‘he was standing on the balcony of the mansion.

“It’s a big concern,” Biden said. “I hope no one comes away with the message thinking it’s okay.”

Biden faced Trump on stage during their roller coaster debate last Wednesday, just days before the president announced his positive diagnosis of Covid.
