Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama criticized Republican President Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic in a video released Thursday, as the Biden campaign exploited the star power of the first black US president .
Biden, who was vice president of the Obama administration, sat opposite the former president in a chair across a room for a “socially distant” conversation.
The pair posted the video to Twitter, where Obama has 120.8 million subscribers, the most on the platform.
Every day I hear people telling me how important healthcare is to their families – well, it’s deeply personal for the President @Barack Obama and me too. I will fight to protect and develop Obamacare and make sure everyone gets the care they need.

“Can you imagine standing up when you were president saying, ‘It’s not my responsibility?'” Biden asked Obama, referring to Trump’s efforts to evade criticism of the pandemic response.
“Those words did not come out of our mouths when we were in power,” Obama replied.
In response, Trump attacked Obama and Biden on Twitter.
“Remember, I wouldn’t even be here without them,” he wrote on Thursday. “They did a terrible job!”
Obama, who wouldn’t even approve of Biden until everyone is out of the primaries (and even then waited a long time!), Is now doing a supporting ad. Remember I wouldn’t even be here without them. I would not be president. They did a terrible job!

With the mainstream campaign still in limbo due to the pandemic, the video offered a glimpse of how Obama – still hugely popular among Democratic voters – could be deployed to build enthusiasm for the November presidential election.
In their first in-person meeting since Biden became the alleged Democratic candidate, they spoke about the need to expand the Affordable Care Act, also known as “Obamacare,” their administration’s flagship program that has dramatically expanded health care coverage in the United States.
The Trump administration has asked the United States Supreme Court to strike down the ACA.
“It’s hard to imagine anyone who wants to cut people’s health care in the midst of a major public health crisis,” Mr. Obama said.
They also discussed Biden’s ability to empathize, a trait his campaign pointed out to contrast him with Trump.
“I don’t understand his inability to get a feel for what people are going through,” Biden said. “He can in no way relate.”
Obama said, “It is a sign of leadership when you are ready to hear the experiences of others.”
