The chairman of the Dooru municipal committee in the Anantnag district of Kashmir expressed his gratitude for being appreciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his monthly radio show, “Mann ki Baat”.
The chairman of the municipal committee, Mohammed Iqbal Ahanger, said it was a happy day for him. Speaking to ANI, Ahanger said: “It was totally unexpected that Prime Minister Modi mentioned our district and the contribution of my team. I am grateful to him for appreciating my work in the remediation and fumigation.”
Ahanger also expressed his gratitude to his team. He added: “I am also grateful to my team for recognizing my leadership and helping me in their efforts to bring out the best. I am glad they followed their captain’s lead.”
In the recent edition of “Mann ki Baat”, Prime Minister Modi appreciated the hard efforts of the Anantnag District Municipal Committee through the remediation and fumigation of containment areas and COVID care centers.
Abdul Hameed, a local resident, said: “The chairman of the municipal committee in this area is very hardworking and has taken steps for the development of the area. Even during the pandemic, he made efforts to contain the spread of the virus, including sanitation and fumigation. “
Meanwhile, Ahanger informed that the department has developed a 2,500 liter “boom spray machine” for Rs 50,000 while a 500 liter boom machine which costs Rs 5 lakh.
Mr Iqbal said, “We needed a sprayer to disinfect his area and we learned that it could be bought in another city for 6 lakh. It was expensive, so we decided to make the machine ourselves for only Rs 50,000. ”
