  • “No one survives without a plan,” he added
  • “My plan is to go out there and entertain people,” he also said.

New Delhi:

Actor Vikrant Massey says he is a man with a plan and also without one as he welcomes his destiny and all that life has in store for him with open arms.

Massey, who began his journey on the small screen with shows like Dharam Veer and Balika Vadhu, is known to bring understated intensity and sensitivity to his roles, making him one of the most versatile performers of his generation.

The actor began his film journey with Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera and has given critically acclaimed performances in films and shows such as A death in the Gunj, Under My Burkha Lipstick, Chhapaak, Mirzapur and more recently Cargo.

In an interview with PTI, Massey said, like many of his contemporaries, that he had a plan for his career, but was not “chasing” it.

“To pieces, yes (I have a plan). No one survives without a plan, but I am not pursuing the plan now. Now that’s the thin line. If I want to break it down, my plan is to go there. -bas and entertain people with good performance …

“But I came here without a plan and very early in my life I realized this thing: how can my plans be better than their plans, anyone up there,” the actor said.

Massey said his journey in life and in film has been magnificent so far.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to have a better tomorrow than today. Looking back, there are days when I look back and still believe God was kind. So I didn’t. planned my life in itself. “

“The little things that are under my control, I try to plan them, but I’m a very subordinate person to there being something up there. So I prefer to stop there because it has been a magnificent trip, ”he said.

Massey role choice – be it the benevolent Rana in Dil Dhadakne Do; bullied Shutu in A death in the Gunj; activist Amol in Chhapaak or the reluctant gangster Bablu Pandit in Mirzapur – have always hit the right rope.

The actor said he goes the extra mile to enter the psyche of his characters to make them accessible to the public.

He points out that there’s no set process for doing what he’s able to do with his characters, but Massey wants people to carry the story with them when they’re done watching his performances.

“There is no one-size-fits-all way to take it out of the box and apply it. It depends on movie to movie, but one of the reasons is that people sit down and think, ‘Oh, you know what? guy and the characters he plays are relatable, heartfelt and intense ”.

“It’s something that you want to take home with you and probably sit and chat with a few friends. This is real success, in my opinion. I aspire to do it, not that I have already realized it… continuous process… You fail, you succeed and get to know yourself better over time, ”Massey added.

At 33, the actor said he has a long way to go and he doesn’t want to overload himself with expectations.

“I want to make mistakes and learn from my mistakes. I want to grow as a person and grow from strength to strength.”

For the future, Massey has one aspiration, however: to play a role that explores the darker aspects of his personality.

“I’m looking for the day when I can play an antagonist so close to Langda Tyagi (the character of Saif Ali Khan from Omkara). It will also kind of give me a chance to tap into other areas of my being as an actor that I haven’t come face to face yet. I would love to do that.

“And then there are so many more out there. So simultaneously, without taking the credit away from the one who writes my destiny, the other parts that I would like to play, I also do some.”

Massey was recently featured in two Netflix moviesDolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare and Cargo.

It completes the hat trick with another feature for the streamer, Ginny Weds Sunny this is essentially his first romantic comedy as a male lead.

The actor, who stars opposite Yami Gautam in the film, said the film was a “respite” from his intense roles.

“I couldn’t wait to do something like this. Something as light as Ginny Weds Sunny because after A death in the Gunj and Lipstick... and all the other things I was doing simultaneously, I was really looking for a break from work.

“I had done some pretty tough, moody, intense stuff. So I wanted to do something like that, and it felt like the right script at the time,” Massey said.

The actor is happy that the film, written by Navjot Gulati and Sumit Arora and directed by Puneet Khanna, has been well received by viewers.

“I think it was meant to be like that. With this pandemic, the past seven months have been so difficult for most people and so having an easy going, laid back family leader is good for them.

“There have been so many messages enjoying the film and the video from people watching the film with their families. So I’m glad you know I took that call,” Massey said.
