Interior Minister G Kishan Reddy attacked Congressman Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, saying he was “irrelevant” in politics.
Participating in an exhibition on the emergency imposed in the country on June 25, 1975 by the Indira Gandhi government, Mr. Reddy said: “Rahul Gandhi does not understand democracy, state policy, central politics or politics. international politics. It has no relevance in politics. “
The exhibition at the residence of the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former Union minister Vijay Goel was also attended by the national secretary general (organization) of the party BL Santhosh, vice-president and head of unity from Delhi Shyam Jaju, head of the Delhi unit Adesh Gupta among others.
Congress has imposed emergency measures in the country to save an individual’s job while “strangling” an order from the High Court in Allahabad, Reddy told reporters.
“Rahul Gandhi should read about the atrocities committed by Congress during the emergency. Opposition leaders were imprisoned, political parties and organizations working for the benefit of the people prohibited, sterilization was forced and freedom media was removed during the emergency, “he said.
Mr. Goel, who, along with his father the late Charti Lal Goel, were imprisoned during the emergency, said the exhibit was intended to remind younger generations of the “dark period” of democracy in the country.
