New Delhi:
Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said today that it is a crime on the part of the government not to provide immediate financial support to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which are closing their doors.
“11 crore of Indians are employed by MSMEs. A third of them are closing their doors permanently. It is criminal for GOI not to immediately provide cash assistance to them,” he said on Twitter.
Gandhi called for immediate financial support for MSMEs across the country, which employ a large number of people, saying it is the sector hardest hit by the national foreclosure caused by the coronavirus.
He also called for a financial package for MSMEs.
On Friday, the Cabinet of the Union authorized an Rs. 20,000 crore debt system to help these stressed businesses raise funds from financial institutions.
