The Indian military has set up improved living facilities for troops deployed in eastern Ladakh, an area that receives up to 40 feet of snow each year after November and where temperatures drop to 30 to 40 degrees.

As many as 20 Indian soldiers were killed on June 15 and 16 following an attempt by the Chinese to unilaterally change the status quo.
