India continues to occupy the first place in the world with the maximum number of recoveries of COVID-19 and accounts for 21% of recovered cases globally, while its share in total cases stands at 18.6%, the Union Health Ministry said today.
India has also maintained its global position with one of the lowest case fatality rates for COVID-19 (TFC) compared to several other countries.
While the global CFR is 2.97% to date, the comparative figure for India is 1.56%, he said.
The number of deaths per million people in India is one of the lowest in the world. While the global average is 130 deaths per million population, India reports 73 deaths per million population, the ministry said.
