New Delhi:
Delhi’s health infrastructure should be reserved for residents during the coronavirus pandemic, a group of experts formed by the government of Arvind Kejriwal recommended amid a wave of virus cases in the national capital, sources said. . All Delhi hospital beds will be occupied in three days if non-residents with COVID-19 are allowed, he said.
The panel chaired by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Indraprastha, Dr. Mahesh Verma, submitted its report to the government.
Earlier this week, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asked the public if Delhi hospitals should be banned from outside for treatment. He had formed a five-member expert group to advise him on increasing the national capital’s health infrastructure and preparing for the global pandemic.
The other panel members are: Dr. Sunil Kumar, medical director of GTB Hospital; Dr Arun Gupta, President of the Delhi Medical Council; Dr RK Gupta, former president of the Delhi Medical Association; and Dr. Sandeep Budhiraja, group medical director of Max Hospital.
Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi in an interview with GalacticGaming on Saturday criticized the idea.
“How can Delhi beds be reserved for Delhi residents? How can Mumbai beds be reserved only for Mumbaikars? How can Kolkata beds be reserved only for Kolkata residents? There is no passport and visa requirement to come to Delhi. Across the country come to the national capital for treatment. There should be no policy in this area. There is a need for sensitivity, “he said.
Delhi, with approximately 26,334 cases and more than 700 deaths, is the third most affected state in the country after Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. He reports more than a thousand cases daily in recent days.
Delhi reported 1,330 new cases of coronavirus on Friday. On June 3, he had his worst record – 1,513 cases.
Kejriwal said on Saturday that there is no shortage of beds for critical coronavirus patients in Delhi and that no one with symptoms should be refused.
“Some hospitals deny admission to COVID-19 patients. I warn those who think they will be able to black market beds using the influence of their protectors from other parties, you will not be spared”, a said Mr. Kejriwal.
The Chief Minister said that the national capital’s health care system would collapse if thousands of asymptomatic people lined up for the test. He said tests should only be done for those with symptoms to avoid overwhelming the health system’s ability to treat people.
Kejriwal said last month that Delhi was ready to deal with the virus because it had adequate hospital beds. He asked the center that the coronavirus lock be relaxed.
The center then authorized restaurants, malls and religious places from June 8 under what it called “Unlock 1”. It also allowed the intra and interstate circulation of people and goods.
