The financial capital Mumbai is expected to face heavy rains between Monday and Wednesday next week, the Indian Meteorological Department said on Saturday.
Besides Mumbai, other districts of Maharashtra including Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Kolhapur, Sangli, Beed, Latur and Osmanabad will experience heavy to very heavy rains.
“Very heavy to extremely heavy rains possible over Konkan including Mumbai, Thane, NM from August 2-5 in Ghat regions as well,” tweeted Senior Weather Officer KS Hosalikar.

Parts of Nanded, Hingoli, Parbhani, Jalna, Sangli and Aurangabad are also likely to receive light to moderate rains through August 5, the IMD forecast added.
According to the IMD classification, “heavy to very heavy rain” means rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 204.4 mm over a 24 hour period.
