Heavy rain likely in parts of Maharashtra today, including Mumbai: Meteorological Office

The Konkan coast, including Mumbai, is experiencing an intense wave of precipitation, said IMD (Representative).

Mumbai:

Heavy rains are likely to occur in remote locations in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts of Maharashtra on July 6, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Sunday.

IMD has informed that due to active monsoon conditions, the entire Konkan coast, including Mumbai, is experiencing an intense wave of precipitation and has issued a yellow alert warning for the above districts for today hui.

“The monsoon remained largely active over the entire Konkan belt, including in Mumbai with heavy to very heavy precipitation in many places and extremely heavy isolated falls,” said an IMD press release.

The weather agency also said that inland Maharashtra received fairly widespread precipitation with generally moderate precipitation. “The Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra also received heavy to very heavy rains in isolated locations,” he added.

“Moderate rain is very likely in the city and the suburbs. Possibility of heavy falls in isolated places during the next 48 hours,” added the press release.
