Even before outrage over the gang rape and murder of a Dalit woman in Hathras took hold, a six-year-old girl from the district, who was allegedly raped by her parent, died in the process. treatment at a Delhi hospital, police said on Tuesday. .
The minor was held captive with a relative in the Iglas region of Aligarh district and was rescued on September 17, said Chief Superintendent of Police Muniraj G.
“Following a complaint filed by a social organization, the police raided the house, which belonged to a relative of the victim, found the girl and admitted her to the hospital of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College where she was treated four days ago, “the SSP told reporters.
The girl was transferred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi after her condition deteriorated and she died on Monday.
A medical examination of the girl confirmed the rape.
An FIR was recorded by police on September 21 following a complaint from the girl’s father, who lives in a village in Hathras district, that he suspected the girl had been raped in captivity. Police then arrested the 15-year-old relative who confessed to his crime, the SSP said.
“The boy’s mother, who is the victim’s maternal aunt (mausi), is believed to be an accomplice in the crime and is missing,” he said.
On Tuesday, the victim’s family sat with her body on the main road in Hathras to protest the failure of the police to arrest the woman. After being persuaded by senior police officials, they agreed to perform the final rites.
The SSP said the Iglas SHO police station was suspended for negligence.
He also said that two police teams had been formed to locate the woman.
The incident came to light amid widespread outrage over the death and alleged gang rape of a Dalit woman in Hathras by four “upper caste” men and the response from the Uttar administration Pradesh to the incident.
The woman’s family alleged that the body was burned overnight without their approval, but local police said the cremation was done “according to the family’s wishes.” Citing an FSL report, Hathras police also claimed that the woman was not raped.
The UP government asked the Center to order a CBI investigation into the incident as “false accounts were being broadcast about the case for political reasons.” On Tuesday, he told the Supreme Court that the CBI investigation could be conducted under his supervision.
