Several tech companies have said they plan to gradually reopen their offices in the coming months.

San Francisco, United States:

Google will allow most employees to work from home until July 2021 in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the tech giant said on Monday.

In an email to employees, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said: “To give employees the ability to plan ahead, we are expanding our global home volunteer option until June 30, 2021 for positions that do not need to be in the office. ”

The Wall Street Journal, which first broke the news, said nearly every 200,000 Google employees and contractors around the world would see an extension of the option that was due to end in January.

The move could signal similar efforts by other tech companies and large employers to expand precautionary policy amid growing fears about the risks of a return to normal in the workplace.

Several tech companies have said they plan to gradually reopen their offices in the coming months. Twitter, meanwhile, said it would allow all employees to continue working remotely.
