New Delhi:

East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir on Thursday unveiled a one-of-a-kind giant air purifier in Gandhi Nagar market, billed as Asia’s largest ready-to-wear and textile center .

The Gautam Gambhir Foundation funded the purifier. Delhi BJP President Aadesh Gupta was also present at the inauguration event.

In January, Gambhir inaugurated a one-of-a-kind smog tower in the central market of Lajpat Nagar as a pilot project.

Following the positive response from residents of this region, Gambhir decided to install more air purifiers in the markets of East Delhi, according to the statement.

In terms of technology, the new purifiers are more advanced and come with additional features such as high pole lights, he said.

“I know that these air purifiers will not completely solve the problem, but something has to be done. These air purifiers will have a major impact on people living in neighboring areas,” Gambhir said in the statement. .

“I don’t believe that making yourself known at every traffic light is the solution to such an important problem that affects every Delhiite, especially our elders,” he said.

The member for East Delhi also questioned the ban on firecrackers just days before major festivals.

“Why don’t they ban crackers all year round when they know the city’s air quality is so bad. Why ban them only before festivals,” he said.

“They first licensed traders for traditional and green crackers and then banned them as an ad hoc measure. This resulted in huge losses for traders and traders at the time of the pandemic. had to clarify their policy early on, “Gambhir said.

On November 5, the Delhi government banned the sale and use of all types of firecrackers in the city from November 7 to 30.

On Monday, the National Green Tribunal also imposed a total ban on the sale or use of all kinds of firecrackers in the NCR from midnight November 9 to midnight November 30, saying that “the cracker party is for happiness and not to celebrate the dead and the diseases “.

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday called on the opposition to refrain from making statements that prompt people to oppose the firecracker ban.
