Congressman and former union minister B Janardhana Poojary tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to a private hospital for treatment, his family said on Sunday.
The 83-year-old leader is asymptomatic and “there is nothing to worry about,” his eldest son Santhosh J Poojary told reporters.
He was hospitalized as a precaution, said Santhosh, adding that his cotton swab samples were collected on Saturday, the results of which were positive.
Mr. Poojary resides in Bantwal in the Dakshina Kannada district and is suspected of having contracted the infection from his wife, who contracted it through contact with the house servants, and since then hospitalized.
