A team of forensic experts reached the site on Saturday where gangster Vikas Dubey was gunned down on July 10 and recreated the scene of the alleged encounter.

Dubey was killed in a shootout after a police vehicle transporting him from Ujjain to Kanpur encountered an accident and he attempted to escape from the area of ​​Bhauti area, police said.

Senior experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and other team members re-created the meeting location with the help of the Uttar Pradesh task force, said a senior official. of the FLS who did not wish to be named.

In order to cross-examine the encounter theory told by the STF and the local police, the scene of the shooting was recreated by forensic experts, he added.

The FSL team and STF inspected the location where the police vehicle, which was carrying Dubey, overturned due to the rain and high speed.

After the accident, the gangster was surrounded and asked to surrender, but he refused and shot police personnel, police said.

Most of the STF officers, including the CO (unit of STF Kanpur), TB Singh and the Kanpur police who participated in the meeting, were also present, added the official.

The STF and the Kanpur police were instructed to remain on site to help the team of forensic experts recreate the scene.

A K Srivastava, a senior official of the FSL, told mediapersons that the state government had already instructed to recreate the match and submit the results.

“We have recreated the scene and the forensic findings will also be submitted to the government at the earliest,” he added.
