The trailer for The next film by Vidya Balan Shakuntala Devi released Wednesday and has trended since on social media. The actress, who garnered much praise for playing the role of the mathematical assistant Shakuntala Devi in ​​the filmsaid that portraying the famous mathematician’s trip on screen was “as intimidating” for her as “exhilarating,” PTI news agency reported. Speaking of working on the project, which will soon be released on Prime Video on July 31, Vidya Balan said in a statement: “Entering the world of Shakuntala Devi was as intimidating as it was exhilarating. Shakuntala Devi, who died in 2013, was also known as the “human computer” for its impressive ability to quickly solve complex calculations. Her genius was first discovered at the age of 5, when she solved a math problem for 18-year-old students without much effort. She excelled in mathematics and earned a place in the 1982 edition of the Guinness Book of Records for 13-digit multiplication in 28 seconds.

In the film directed by Anu Menon, Sanya Malhotra plays the role of Shakuntala Devi Anupama’s daughter while Jisshu Sengupta plays her husband. The film was previously scheduled to be released on May 8, but due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, manufacturers have decided to broadcast it on an OTT platform.

Speaking of the digital output of his film, Vidya Balan said: “A direct release on Prime Video will bring Shakuntala Devi closer to audiences around the world where he can watch the movie at his convenience.”
