Naresh Trehan and others charged with criminal conspiracy, among others (file)

A lawsuit against Dr Naresh Trehan and 15 others, including private companies and some government officials, has been filed in Gurgaon for corruption and money laundering, police officials said on Monday.
The FIR was filed on the instructions of the local court for additional sessions in connection with alleged irregularities in the 53-acre subdivision for a “Medicity” in Gurgaon for which residents were evicted in 2004, officials said.
The case was filed on Friday and the defendants were charged under the relevant sections of the law on the prevention of money laundering and the prevention of corruption, according to the FIR.
They have also been listed in the sections of the Indian Penal Code for criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, falsification of documents, records, he said.
“The FIR has been filed but an investigation has not yet started. The case must be investigated by senior officers and a team has yet to be formed,” a police official told the PTI case.
Other appointees to the FIR are “all officials involved in the crime”, SAS Infotech, GL Asia Mauritius, Dunearn Investments (Mauritius), Naresh Trehan and Associates Health Services, Global Infracon, Punj Lloyd, chief administrator of Haryana Urban Development Corporation (HUDA) in Gurgaon, director of HUDA in Gurgaon, Estate Officers-2 HUDA, and director of general health services, Haryana.
Gurgaon resident Raman Sharma alleged that land for the Medicity project had been allocated to Dr. Trehan, Sunil Sachdeva, Atul Punj and Anant Jain in violation of the law, involving criminal abuse of public order, misconduct and the influence of public officials resulting in a “pecuniary benefit” to individuals, among others, “said the FIR.
