A review meeting on the state of infection in Delhi, West Bengal and Kerala was hosted by Secretary of Health Rajesh Bhushan in the presence of VK Paul, member (Health), NITI Aayog, and Balram Bhargava , DG, ICMR, according to a press release. by the Ministry of Health.
Delhi, with 29,378 active cases, has seen an almost 46% increase in new cases over the past four weeks, and the positivity rate over the past four weeks has increased by almost 9%, the ministry said. .
“The increase in cases was attributed by the Delhi team to social gatherings during the festivities, deteriorating air quality, increasing incidence of respiratory disorders and clusters of positive cases in the workplace Fatigue among frontline workers was also discussed, ”he said.
The Union territory has been urged to actively step up testing, increase RT-PCR testing, focus on contact tracing and effectively apply isolation of contacts found within the first 72 hours.
It was advised to focus on containment areas and strict perimeter control to be implemented in accordance with Interior Ministry guidelines.
Health authorities have been urged to give additional impetus to information, education and communication (IEC) practices and to proactively promote the wearing of masks and other behaviors appropriate to COVID, the ministry said.
