Famous Kuchipudi dancer Sobha Naidu, recipient of Padma Shri and many other awards, died today in Hyderabad.

Sobha Naidu, who was in her sixties, was undergoing treatment in a private hospital. She died around 1 a.m. this morning, sources close to her told the Press Trust of India news agency.

The main achievements of Sobha Naidu include the choreography and presentation of the ballets Vipranarayana, Kalyana Srinivasam and many others, in which she was the main protagonist and performed various roles like Satyabhama, Devadevaki, Padmavathi, Mohini, Sai Baba and the goddess Parvati which earned him great appreciation.

As a guru (teacher), she has trained a number of Indian and foreign students.
