Facebook and its WhatsApp messaging service said on Monday that it is suspending requests for information about users of the Hong Kong government and law enforcement authorities.
The break will take place “pending a new assessment” of a new national security law imposed on Hong Kong by China, and will include “formal human rights due diligence and consultations with experts from human rights, “WhatsApp said in a statement.
