Mayawati’s comments have been linked to his setback ahead of the Nov. 9 polls at UP.

After their brief alliance in Uttar Pradesh failed in last year’s national elections, Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav have once again become fierce rivals. Mayawati said she was even prepared to vote for the BJP in order to defeat any candidate from Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi party in the UP Legislative Council polls.

Party leader Bahujan Samaj (BSP) even said it was a “mistake” to withdraw her 1995 complaint against the Samajwadi party on behalf of their alliance.

“We have decided that in order to defeat an SP candidate in the future MLC (Legislative Council member) elections in the UP, we will devote all our energies and even if we have to give our vote to a BJP candidate or any other party candidate, us Any party candidate who dominates Samajwadi’s second candidate will get the vote of all BSP deputies for sure, ”Mayawati told ANI news agency.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, alluding to Mayawati’s tacit support for the BJP, commented on the video of her statement: “Is there anything now to say?”

The former chief minister’s comments have been linked to his setback ahead of the Nov. 9 elections for Rajya Sabha’s 10-seat Uttar Pradesh.

Mayawati’s party put forward a candidate, Ramji Gautam, for a Rajya Sabha seat, although he did not have the figures in the assembly. BSP leaders had indicated that they could gain support from other non-BJP parties.

However, in a blow to those plans, four of the 10 BSP MPs who proposed the candidate’s name said their signatures on his nomination form had been forged. They also hinted that they might switch sides. One MP revealed that she had met party leader Samajwadi Akhilesh Yadav and another said he was “known to treat his party members with respect”.

A furious Mayawati hit Akhilesh Yadav and called her decision to team up with him for the election of Lok Sabha as a big mistake. She also said that seeing the behavior of the Samajwadi party after the election results in Lok Sabha, she realized that it was a serious mistake to take back her 1995 case against the party following an attack on her.

“We shouldn’t have joined them. We should have thought a little deeply. We hastily made the wrong decision. We made a very big mistake in doing so,” she said.

“I want to reveal that when we decided to challenge the polls with the Samajwadi Party for the Lok Sabha elections in the UP, we worked very hard for this, but since the first day of our coalition Akhilesh Yadav has continued to tell SC Mishra (head of BSP) that since BSP-SP joined hands, I should take my case back, ”Mayawati said.

“Our party joined forces with the SP to fight the communal forces in the Lok Sabha elections. Due to their family feuds, they could not gain much from the alliance with BSP. They stopped responding to us afterwards. elections and so we decided to part ways with them. “

Ahead of the general election, Mayawati buried his legendary rivalry with Samajwadi founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and teamed up with his son Akhilesh Yadav to form an opposition bloc against the BJP.

Mayawati went to court to withdraw her case from what is known as the “Guest House” incident in 1995, when she was manhandled by workers from the Samajwadi Party after deciding to withdraw government support from Mulayam Singh and join the BJP.

The goodwill was short-lived; the Mayawati-Akhilesh Yadav combo came a cropper in UP, leaving the two rivals turned allies fondling each other.
