Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Thursday called for the dissolution of Amazon.com Inc after an author complained on social media that he could not self-publish a book via the largest the world‘s online retailer.
“It’s crazy @JeffBezos,” Musk tweeted to Amazon chief. The two are billionaires and oversee competing space exploration companies in addition to their duties at Telsa and Amazon. “It’s time to break Amazon. The monopolies are wrong!” Musk added in a second tweet.
Musk does not have the legal authority to break up Amazon.
The retailer did not comment on Musk’s call to dissolve, but said that the book in question, by author Alex Berenson, had been blocked in error and was now available for sale through its service. Kindle electronic reading. The decision to go ahead with the sale of the book was not due to Musk, Amazon said.
Tesla’s chief, who said earlier this month that he would be taking a break on Twitter, has always been outspoken on the social media platform. A 2018 tweet that he had secured funding to take Tesla privately led to a lawsuit against Musk by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, which the parties settled later. Musk denounced restrictions on home housing to curb the spread of the new coronavirus.
According to a photo of a Twitter message from Amazon to Berenson, posted on Twitter, the retailer took action because the 22-page book did not follow guidelines that Amazon had not specified, adding: “We refer clients to official sources of health information about the virus. ” Berenson’s book is titled “Undeclared Truths About COVID-19 and Interlocks: Part 1: Introduction and Number and Estimates of Deaths”.
Berenson did not respond to an email requesting comment. After Amazon approved the sale of the book, he tweeted, “Thanks to @elonmusk and everyone who helped.”
