A magnitude 6.9 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning near Jakarta, Indonesia, according to India’s National Seismology Center.
The epicenter of the earthquake was 623 km west-northwest (WNW) of Jakarta, Indonesia, the agency said. The earthquake struck at 3:59 am IST at a depth of 40 km from the surface.
