Amsterdam:

The Dutch Ministry of Agriculture on Thursday ordered the slaughter of 200,000 chickens after the discovery of a highly pathogenic avian flu on a farm in the eastern town of Puiflijk.

The cull, which includes birds on a second farm within a 1 km radius, is the country’s second this month after the discovery of H5N8 disease in wild poultry. Dutch poultry farmers have been ordered to keep the birds indoors to prevent transmission.
