Washington, United States:
President Donald Trump’s oldest son’s girlfriend has tested positive for coronavirus, US media reported on Friday.
Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former Fox News television personality who goes out with Donald Trump Jr, traveled to South Dakota to watch the President’s speech on July 4 and the celebration fireworks at Mount Rushmore.
Guilfoyle, 51, was immediately isolated after discovering that she had the virus in a routine test of anyone who should come into close contact with the president, the New York Times reported.
In a statement to the newspaper, Sergio Gor, chief of staff to the Trump campaign finance committee, said, “She is fine and will be retested to make sure the diagnosis is correct because it is asymptomatic.”
He added: “As a precaution (it) will cancel all future events. Donald Trump Jr has been tested negative, but as a precaution, he also self-isolates and cancels all public events.”
Guilfoyle is the third person close to the President to send back a positive COVID-19 test, the American media reported.
Others include Trump’s personal valet and the press secretary to the US vice president.
The pandemic has claimed the lives of nearly 130,000 Americans, and a recent resurgence “puts the entire country at risk,” said infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci.
