Washington, United States:
Donald Trump on Wednesday called his opponent Joe Biden “wacky” as the president seeks to relaunch his re-election campaign amid weak poll data while confined to the White House to recover from Covid-19 .
“He’s been a wacko for years, and everyone knows that,” Trump tweeted. “Notice how all the bad things, like her very low IQ, are no longer being reported? Fake News!”
Trump has issued a flood of angry tweets since leaving hospital on Monday as he continues to be treated for Covid-19 just four weeks away from the November 3 election.
The latest polls predict a clear victory for Biden, with CNN giving the Democrat a 57% to 41% national advantage among likely voters, with female voters ranging from 66 to 32% in his favor.
Trump linked his tweet to a clip of Biden on the election campaign telling a group of young dancers he wanted to “see them dance when they are four years older.”
Biden’s apparent reference to his ambition to campaign for re-election in four years has been criticized as inappropriate by Fox News.
Trump has vowed to resume the campaign shortly and participate in the second presidential debate against Biden in Miami on October 15.
