US President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced a “push” by federal forces into crime hotspots, including Chicago, following an increase in violence in the nation’s third largest city.
“I am announcing a wave of federal law enforcement in communities plagued by violent crime,” Trump told the White House, along with Attorney General William Barr and directors of the FBI and Department of Homeland Security in the audience.
The Department of Justice “will immediately move federal law enforcement to the city of Chicago,” the president added.
