Washington:
President Donald Trump again refused on Monday to admit defeat to Democratic challenger Joe Biden and insisted he “won” the November 3 presidential election.
“I won the election!” Trump tweeted on Monday.
The tweet was reported by the social networking site, which said: “Official sources called this election differently.”
I won the election!
– Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 16, 2020
The tweet was not in all caps unlike earlier today when the same words were in all caps.
“He won because the election was rigged,” the Republican president wrote on Twitter, repeating unsubstantiated allegations of voter fraud.
The mainstream media last week declared Biden the winner of the presidential election after the 77-year-old former vice president passed the mandatory 270 electoral votes out of the 538 Electoral College members.
Trump, however, refused to concede the election, claiming he won.
Trump, who holds 232 votes in electoral colleges, challenged election results in various states, including Pennsylvania, Nevada, Michigan, Georgia and Arizona. He had called for a recount in Wisconsin.
He has launched a series of lawsuits in key states, but has provided no evidence to support his fraud claims.
All his trials have so far been unsuccessful.
While Trump, 74, refused to concede the election, the transition team of Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris said the Trump administration is not cooperating with them during the transition.
