Bhopal:
Congress leader Digvijaya Singh rode a bike on Monday to the home of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Bhopal to protest the rising fuel prices.
Digvijaya Singh, who was joined by a number of party workers, traveled the cycle for approximately 1 kilometer from the Roshanpura intersection in Bhopal to the residence of the chief minister.
The former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh said that the ruling BJP in the state and center sees the coronavirus pandemic as an opportunity to make money.
“Today, when people are infected with COVID-19. Inflation increases and people starve. The central government has raised excise duties on gasoline and diesel for the eighteenth day in a row “said Mr. Singh.
“As Modi ji says, the opportunity for disaster, for them (the center), the corona disaster is an opportunity to make money,” he added.
The Digvijaya Singh bike ride was part of a statewide congressional protest against the rising price of gasoline-diesel on Wednesday.
The head of the party’s state unit, Kamal Nath, had asked all members of the districts and blocks to participate in the march.
In addition to Mr. Singh, a number of senior leaders, including former minister Jeetu Patwari, have cycled in Indore.
Responding to the protest, Interior Minister Narrotam Mishra called the protest of Congress leaders a political stuntman.
“Digvijay Singh should first apologize, they said they would cut gas prices by 5 Rs in their Vachan Patra (manifesto), but increased the price by Rs 2 and spent the money for Jacquiline and Salman, we will use the same for Fighting Corona, “” said the head of the BJP.
Congress attacked the government over the course of rising prices for gasoline and diesel continuously for 18 days, after the lockout restrictions were relaxed.
Earlier in the day, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi also attacked the government over rising fuel prices and increasing cases of coronavirus.
It was inspired by the expression “Unlock1” used to describe the gradual release of the three-month lock from the virus.
“The Modi government has” unlocked “the corona pandemic and gasoline-diesel prices,” said Rahul Gandhi in a tweet in Hindi.
The congressman labeled a graphic with the tweet and titled it “coronavirus is not the only rising curve”.
The graph shows a steady increase in the daily number of COVID-19s and the rise in gasoline and diesel prices after the lockout.
