New Delhi:
Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday for his statement that there had been no (Chinese) intrusion into Indian territory and asked if the Prime Minister had given a “free kick” to China for the confrontation in the Galwan valley which claimed the lives of 20 Indian army personnel.
Speaking to Twitter, the Congress leader asked the central government five questions. One of them asked why there was a clash between the troops from June 16 to 17 if there was no foreigner on Indian territory.
“The Prime Minister has declared that there is no foreigner (that is to say Chinese) on Indian territory. If this is true, what was the problem on 5 and 6 May? Why is there “Was there a fight between the troops from June 16 to 17? Why did India lose 20 lives?” asked Chidambaram.

Prime Minister Modi said on Friday at an all-party meeting that “no one on our territory or any of our posts is captured” and 20 brave soldiers made the supreme sacrifice for the nation in a violent confrontation with Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley and also gave a lesson to those “who dared to look towards our homeland”.
Chidambaram also questioned the government about the need to hold talks on the “disengagement” of Chinese and Indian troops in the absence of intrusion.
“If there has been no intrusion or violation of the LAC, why has there been so much talk of the” disengagement “of troops from both sides? If there has been no intrusion of Chinese troops , what did the Corps commanders talk about on June 6? Was it the weather? “he wrote.
Quoting Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, he asked if no Chinese army had crossed the LAC region into Indian territory, why did the Foreign Minister’s statement refer to “restoring the status quo ante”?
“Has the Prime Minister given a good blow to China? If so, what is there to negotiate with China? Why are the great generals negotiating and what is it about?” -he asks.
