Pune:
BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday that remarks by the MLC Gopichand Padalkar party about the leader of the NCP and seasoned politician Sharad Pawar are not appropriate but an emotional outburst.
Earlier today, Mr. Padalkar called Mr. Pawar a “corona” that infected Maharashtra.
“To make such remarks against senior leaders is not appropriate,” said the former chief minister in Solapur.
“I had a word with Padalkar. I told him that even if Pawar saheb is our political opponent, he is not our enemy. I told him that forget about Pawar saheb, make such remarks against any top leader is not appropriate.
“If someone wants to voice their opposition, it must be done using appropriate words,” said Devendra Fadnavis, leader of the opposition in the state legislature.
Mr. Fadnavis said that Mr. Padalkar had accepted that it was an emotional explosion against Mr. Pawar.
“Padalkar said he would give clarification. He agreed … Young leaders from all parties should exercise restraint while speaking,” he added.
