Democrat Joe Biden and his party raised a record $ 383 million in September for his presidential bid, likely bolstering his financial advantage over President Donald Trump ahead of the November 3 election.
The campaign had $ 432 million in cash at the end of the month, campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon said on Twitter.
The coup topped the $ 365 million Democrats raised in August, which in itself was a monthly record for any U.S. presidential campaign.
“To everyone who contributed a few dollars in the last month – thank you,” Biden wrote on Twitter as he announced the amount. “I am incredibly humble.”
The Trump campaign has yet to announce its September total, but it made $ 210 million in August with the Republican National Committee.
Biden has held a significant lead over Trump in national polls for months, although Reuters / Ipsos polls show a somewhat tighter race in battlefield states likely to decide the winner.
As of Aug. 31, Democrats had $ 466 million to spend on the presidential race, compared to $ 325 million for Republicans.
The numbers are capping an astonishing turnaround for the Biden campaign, which emerged from a crowded Democratic primary field earlier this year with little money.
The Trump campaign, which began raising funds almost as soon as he took office in 2017, had once seemed like a financial heavyweight.
