Efforts are underway to arrest those who attacked the police station, police said.

New Delhi:

Police officer injured after associates of man and two brothers arrested for looting and assault threw stones and shot at police station in north Delhi, announced officials Thursday.

Sadkeen, Ashkeen and Shahrukh were arrested by cops at the Inderlok police station for allegedly looting and assaulting the owner of an Akhlaq bakery on Wednesday after he refused them free food, they said.

One case was recorded in the attack on the police station, said Deputy Police Commissioner (North) Monika Bharadwaj, adding that Sadkeen and his brothers were arrested.

Police are trying to catch those who attacked the police station, she said.

Akhlaq had rented commercial space in Inderlok from Sadkeen’s mother for her bakery, officials said.

The incident took place Wednesday at 10 p.m. after which Akhlaq filed a police complaint with the Inderlok station, saying that a fight had broken out after he refused them baked goods for free, said the police.

The complainant also alleged that Sadkeen and his brothers looted and beat his bakery, they said.

Police say Sadkeen and his brothers were taken to the police station for questioning. They became aggressive and fought with the police, they said.

A few minutes after their arrest, their associates came to the Inderlok station with batons and started throwing stones at police personnel, officials said.

One of the accused’s associates, identified as Naved, shot police personnel and, in self-defense, Deputy Inspector Pankaj shot two in the air, they said.

A police officer injured his head during the skinning of stones. He has been taken to hospital and is undergoing treatment, officials said.

CCTV footage showed the associates of Sadkeen and his brother entering the police station. They fought with police personnel while attacking with batons. Police were seen monitoring the situation, they said.
