New Delhi:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday the government was providing plasma for free and people did not need to buy or sell it.

Mr Kejriwal inspected a redevelopment project in Chandni Chowk on Thursday. He spoke of the adequate availability of plasma on the sidelines of his visit, according to a statement.

“We give people free plasma. We have over 500 plasma samples in stock at ILBS Hospital. What is the need to sell and buy plasma if the government provides plasma for free? People don’t need to buy plasma because all plasma and blood groups are available there, ”he said.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Wednesday that strict action would be taken if a monetary transaction was found to have been made during the process of donating plasma for a COVID-19 patient.

The first such “plasma bank” in the country was recently established at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in South Delhi.
