A 57-year-old coronavirus patient, who was filmed leaving a public hospital in the town of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, just 24 hours after being admitted to the facility, was found dead Sunday night. His body was found in bushes, just 500 meters from the hospital.
His family accused the hospital of “neglect”, adding that he “escaped” after being the victim of harassment. The administration, however, rejected these allegations.
He was admitted to Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital in Prayagraj, a level III government facility for coronavirus patients with symptoms, on Friday evening with breathing problems.
An audio clip was released by his family as they claimed the patient called them on Saturday morning, hours before he “escaped” from the hospital. He reportedly said his complaints at the hospital had not been heard.
