The number of coronavirus deaths in India rose to 7,466 and cases rose to 2,666,598 on Tuesday. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said India was better positioned to fight COVID-19 than other countries, but there was no room for complacency .
Mumbai, the country’s financial, artistic and entertainment capital, has passed 51,000 cases of coronavirus – about 700 more than Wuhan in China, where the global pandemic surfaced in December. The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Wuhan is 50,333, including 3,869 deaths. Maharashtra, the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot, has 90,000 cases, well ahead of 84,000 cases in China.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s Deputy Prime Minister Manish Sisodia said national coronavirus cases could reach more than 5 lakh by the end of July and that he did not have the capacity to the hospital to manage such an epidemic. The Aam Aadmi Party government has declared that it has decided to increase the beds in 22 private hospitals by more than double.

Washington DC National Guard members positive for coronavirus
Members of the Washington DC National Guard tested positive for the coronavirus following their deployment during recent protests in the US capital, the guard said on Tuesday.
DC National Guard spokesman Lt. Col. Brooke Davis said they could not reveal the number of positive tests due to “operational security”.
She said they came after the demobilization of 1,700 members following service during protests that broke out in front of the White House and elsewhere following the murder of the African American George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer.
Kuwait Airways flight carrying 45 Indian passengers lands in Indore
A Kuwait Airways flight carrying about 45 Indian passengers from Kuwait landed Tuesday at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport in Indore.
India has so far brought back nearly 70,000 people as part of the Vande Bharat mission launched to evacuate Indians from abroad during the lockout, said Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
The number of coronavirus deaths worldwide is 407,914
The pandemic has killed at least 407,914 people worldwide since its onset in China late last year, according to an AFP count Tuesday at 1900 GMT, official sources said.
Over 7.1 million cases have been recorded in 196 countries and territories.
