The Indian COVID-19 count crossed the 3 lakh mark on Friday with a record number of more than 10,000 new cases detected in the States and Union territories. The government has stressed the need for strict containment measures to control the pandemic, with the last cases of a lakh appearing in just ten days.
India’s recovery rate – the number of patients who have successfully battled viral disease – stood at 49.47% this morning. 1,47,195 people have recovered, the Ministry of Health said. The number of recoveries is greater than the number of active cases for the second consecutive day.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair interaction with chief ministers of various states next week to discuss the coronavirus situation in India, which has suffered an alarming decline in recent days amid the easing after the national foreclosure two months. The online meeting will take place on June 16 and 17.
