Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said the total number of coronavirus cases in the country will break the 10 lakh mark this week.
“This week, the figure of 10,000,000 will be crossed in our country,” he said in a tweet in Hindi.
Gandhi also tagged a report quoting the head of the WHO who said that if concrete measures were not taken, the situation of coronaviruses in the world would go from bad to worse.
The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) criticized some heads of government on Monday for eroding public confidence by sending mixed messages about the coronavirus and warned that their failure to stop the outbreak of their epidemics country meant that there would be no return to normal in the foreseeable future.
With 28,498 new cases registered in one day, the Indian count COVID-19 sprinted Tuesday after nine lakh, just three days after crossing the eight lakh mark, according to data from the Union Ministry of Health.
The total number of cases of coronavirus in the country jumped to 9,06,752 and the number of deaths rose to 23,727 with 553 people succumbing to the disease in 24 hours, the data updated at 8 o’clock in the morning showed.
Gandhi questioned the Center’s claims against COVID-19 on Monday, asking whether India was “in a good position” to fight the virus.
He criticized the way the government handled the situation.
