Congressman Rahul Gandhi today attacked the government over India becoming the fourth most affected country in terms of coronavirus cases, describing it as a horrible tragedy, resulting from a deadly mix “d ‘arrogance and incompetence “.

India overtook the UK on Thursday for coronavirus cases to become the fourth most affected country, according to data from the Worldometer and Johns Hopkins University.

The number of cases has increased by 2,903 today to reach 3,041,019. Maharashtra has the highest cases in India with 1,011,141, followed by Tamil Nadu with 40,698 and Delhi with 34,687.

The death toll rose to 8,498, with a record day-long peak of 396 deaths.
