The opposition’s job is to criticize the government, not to weaken the country, said Gaurav Bhatia (File)

New Delhi:

The BJP claimed on Wednesday that Congress stood with “anti-national” forces after the wife of Siddique Kappan, a Kerala journalist arrested by UP police on charges of terrorism on his way to Hathras , met Rahul Gandhi in Kerala.

Kappan’s wife, Raihanath, presented a memorandum to Mr. Gandhi, the MP for Lok Sabha from Wayanad in Kerala, demanding “justice” for him.

BJP spokesman Gaurav Bhatia said the accused was a member of the Indian People’s Front (PFI), which he said practiced communal politics, and was going to Hathras to “vitiate” the atmosphere in the city. State following the alleged gangrap and murder of a Dalit. girl.

Kappan intended to help the PFI and Congress politically, Bhatia said, noting that the court had denied him bail due to serious charges against him. He also alleged that the PFI was involved in financing the riots in Delhi.

“Wouldn’t it be fair to say that Congress is on the side of anti-national forces. It is with those who want instability in the country … Congress has become synonymous with anti-national forces. “said Mr. Bhatia.

He said Congress should be frank about the discussions Mr Gandhi has had with members of Kappan’s family.

The opposition’s job is to criticize the government, offer suggestions and organize protests, but not to weaken the country, he said.

Citing Congress’ support for the restoration of Article 370 of the Constitution which gives Jammu and Kashmir special status, he attacked the opposition party.

Kappan and three others were arrested in Mathura on their way to Hathras earlier this month.
