New Delhi:
Congress asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday how much Indian land had been occupied by the Chinese military and what he was doing to withdraw it from Indian territory as he retaliated against the government for dodging real questions with political bricks.
“We want to tell them that patriotism and nationalism are not the exclusive monopoly of the NDA-BJP and even less of the Minister of Justice,” said Congressman Manish Tewari in response to the minister’s attack. Union Ravi Shankar Prasad against party leader Rahul Gandhi.
“Asking difficult questions to the government is not unpatriotic, not answering them is unpatriotic,” he said.
Tewari said former army generals and defense experts fear that some 40 to 60 square kilometers of Indian territory has been “illegally occupied” by China.
Mr. Tewari asked Prime Minister Modi who was responsible for it and whether he would fix a liability.
“We also want to question the Prime Minister about the Chinese intrusion. How did the Chinese soldiers enter India?” Asked Mr. Tewari at an online press conference.
Indian and Chinese troops have been engaged since May 5 following a violent confrontation in Pangong Tso, in eastern Ladakh.
The trigger for the confrontation was China’s firm opposition to India laying a key road in the Finger region around Pangong Tso Lake, in addition to the construction of another road connecting the Darbuk-Shayok road. -Daulat Beg Oldie in the Galwan Valley.
“Who is responsible for this? Will the government decide on its responsibility? The country wants to know. Is it a fact that the Chinese illegally occupied 40 to 60 square kilometers of Indian territory?” Said Mr. Tewari.
“We want to ask the Prime Minister what the government is doing to withdraw the Chinese army from Lake Pangong Tso in the Galwan Valley, where China is seated with its soldiers and tents,” he said.
He accused the center of trying to push the problem into the cold room
Returning to Ravi Shankar Prasad for his attack on Congressman Rahul Gandhi, Tewari said that the Minister of Union Law had launched a “very unfair and completely irresponsible” political attack.
Tewari said it was unfortunate that instead of answering questions, the government used “abrasive language” against the opposition party.
He said the government should direct India’s national anguish against those who have encroached on Indian territory, rather than its political opponents, and added that Congress is asking questions as the responsible opposition party. .
