The leader cited complaints from passengers from the Majha region in Punjab (Representation)

New Delhi:

A Punjabi congressman on Monday alleged malpractice and overcharging of Air India on flights under the Vande Bharat mission, and called for action against those involved.

In a letter to Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Amritsar Constituency MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla requested his intervention to ensure transparency.

“The Vande Bharat mission flights were launched to rescue Indians stranded elsewhere in the world (due to the COVID-19 pandemic), but it turns out to be an exercise to strike money for an airline short of money. This kind of malpractice cannot occur without a link within the organization, ”Mr. Aujla alleged.

“I therefore ask your good office to intervene in this matter and create an infallible system to issue VBM tickets and take strict action against the link,” he wrote to the minister.

He cited complaints from passengers from the Majha region of the Punjab who are settling or studying in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

“Almost all of them were overcharged and had to travel on expensive tickets. On some occasions, it was reported that travel agents refused to provide passengers with the original invoice and were also reluctant to refund tickets to avoid any suspicion, “he said.
